KNOWING aims to provide a framework for defining Climate Mitigation Pathways based on understanding and integrated Assessment of Climate Impacts, Adaptation Strategies and Societal Transformation.
KNOWING is a Research and Innovation Action project, funded by the European Union, involving more than 70 scientists, stakeholders and practitioners from 20 project partners. Find out more about the latest developments in the project on the offical project website.
The Climate Impact Knowledge Base (or Knowledge Base in short) is an open access database, which can be explored through this dedicated “search and matching” web GUI application. Utilizing a graph database that's interlinking various types of information into a knowledge web for climate, this application serves as a powerful visualization tool to explore and discover these interconnections.
The first iteration of the Knowledge Base incorporates the knowledge on hazards, sectors, risks, adaptation, and mitigation responses, second-order impacts thereof, as well as to various types of relations between these elements. The primary objectives of this web GUI application are to visualize the data contained in the Knowledge Base, and the relations between the data entries, in a user-friendly application, and to demonstrate the types of “questions” the Knowledge Base can resolve.
For this the data can be presentend in 3 different ways:
